I still don’t know about Grant

February 13th, 2008

I still haven’t decided about Avram Grant yet. He seems like a good manager, but it could be just Hank Ten Cate’s influence. It seems like we’ll get in a hot streak where we’re playing well, then we will have a streak of games where we don’t play very well. It could just be the players stepping up, I bet even I could do fairly well with those players if I were manager, I don’t know if he is the right manager for us, maybe Hank Ten Cate is just the replacement in waiting. But he did not do well at Ajax, so what makes us think that he would do well at a bigger club in a better league. So if Grant isn’t our permanent manager, who is?

New Layout and Playlist

February 13th, 2008

I decided to change this blog up by changing the layout of the site. I like it better I think it’s easier to find things and looks more organized. I also added a play list with songs that relate to Chelsea on the bottom of the page. If you have any suggestions or comments on any of these changes or have suggestions on other features just comment below and I will try to add them.

Chelsea FC have introduced their United States website earlier this week. It featurse a members map that allows fans to interact with each other, fans can upload there photos to the website, chat online, and access the latest news from the club. Chelsea have come to the United States the last four summers and will be coming again in 2009.

The club has secured a number of high-profile columnists to write for the site, including Arash Markazi of Sports Illustrated.com and Jack Bell of The New York Times.

Peter Kenyon, chief executive of Chelsea, spoke about the website saying:

“Fan engagement is important to Chelsea on all levels and we recognize the cultural differences between UK and US fans so content from grass roots to elite level will be delivered in a way that the American fan will relate to more.”

I personally love it as an American that they are trying to get more fans from over here. It seems like they actually want more Americans to become fans, unlike other teams that have never come to the United States like Manchester United and Liverpool who ironically have American owners.

Cech to the Nou Camp?

February 13th, 2008

Petr Cech recently told a reporter during an interview that he would would “consider” moving to Barcelona.

Cech told a Czech website:

“Can I imagine staying in England? That I cannot answer.

“So far I have been very happy at Chelsea and I have started to love the Premier League. I have got used to life in London and my wife and I like it.

“But in the case of Barcelona showing interest, yes, certainly it would be worth considering.”

It has been reported by Catalan Daily Sport that Roman Abramovich is desperate to get Ronaldinho at Chelsea as soon as possible. It has also been reported by the English media that chief executive Peter Kenyon and sporting director Frank Arnesen are against buying Ronaldinho.

But rumors are that at the G-14 meetings Peter Kenyon spoke to Barcelona Execs about Ronaldinho, but got a no too any proposal.

Today Hank Ten Cate the Chelsea assistant coach spoke on the Ronaldinho rumors saying:

‘A newspaper has written that I have spoken with Ronaldinho to bring him to Chelsea,’ he told El Mundo Deportivo.

‘This is a big lie. It is false, totally false. I want to call a press conference so that everyone knows this.

‘It is a lie and what’s worse is that the journalist sent me a message saying that they were going to publish the story and I told them it was not true, that it was a lie.

‘They only did it to hurt Ronaldinho and I know what I am talking about because I have experienced the same situation during my time at Barcelona.

‘I don’t understand this lack of respect for a player who has changed the history of the club.

‘It seems that everybody has forgotten what this guy has achieved.

‘Even more seriously, it seems that they have forgotten that against Betis he scored two goals and that was only a week ago.

‘In England nobody thinks that Ronnie is finishing, you don’t know how they talk about him.

‘Here they understand that a player can have a bad day, that a team can have a bad day.’

‘We have worked very well together but the truth is that I have not spoken to Ronaldinho for a year,’ he said.

‘He wished me luck at Chelsea through my daughter, who lives in Barcelona, but I have been very focused on my work at Ajax and now at Chelsea.

‘The reports also create problems for me at Chelsea because nobody at the club has asked about Ronnie apart from comments over coffee when my companions say things like ‘how great is this player, how can he do such spectacular things?’.

‘This causes me problems because what is published in Spain comes out in England.

‘If it was true, I would applaud the journalist for finding it out, but it’s a lie.’

Well I don’t think theres really anything to speculate, how made it pretty clear that HE has not spoken to Ronaldinho. But we all know that Roman wants Ronaldinho at Chelsea, and what Roman wants, Roman gets.

I also missed a couple of Champions League games both against Schalke. The first game against them was great, but we were lucky not to get beat the second time around.
